Week 1 of the 2012 NFL season has finally arrived and with it comes the first of 17 fantasy preview columns which can be found right here during each week of the NFL season. So let’s get this bad boy rolling with the first game of the 2012 season.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
With at least 9 quality fantasy starters going in this game there are plenty of things to feast your eyes on in the season opener. While the usual suspects should be watched intently to gauge their performance for future reference, there are two players of note to pay extra close attention to.
First take note of Giants rookie running back David Wilson and how he is used in the game plan. How many touches he gets and what the explosive runner does with them will go a long way in helping to determine the value of both he and starter Ahmad Bradshaw moving forward. I expect a solid outing from Wilson with more to come as the season moves on.
It would also be wise to keep an eye on Giants tight end Martellus Bennett as he continues to get more and more involved in the New York offensive scheme. Bennett has all the tools needed to stay on the field as he is capable both as a receiver and blocker. It’s worth noting that Bennett hauled in 7 of 8 targets during preseason action totaling 49 yards and 1 TD. The Giants have not been big on the use of the pass catching tight end in recent years so pay close attention to when and where Bennett lines up.
The remainder of this column will be posted later in the week so please check back for the update.
