I guess it isn’t entirely without precedent, Dennis Miller did Monday Night Football, Keith Olberman and Craig Kilborn were both ESPN SportsCenter anchors. Comedians doing sports broadcasting and/or news isn’t exactly a novel concept, but would anyone have pegged Norm Macdonald as the next to follow in those footsteps?
According to a press release, obtained by NFLDraftMonsters;
“Sports Show with Norm Macdonald” will feature Macdonald’s unique and comedic take on the most topical and controversial stories from the sports world. Taped in front of a live studio audience, the fast-paced and informative show will cover all sports – from the popular to the obscure – delivered with Macdonald’s unforgettable style, reminiscent of his hugely popular run as “SNL’s” Weekend Update anchor.
The show, which has an 8 episode order in, will begin production this month, and is set to premiere in April on Comedy Central.
EDIT: A reader, with rather sharp memory sent me a link to Norm’s 1998 Espy performance. I had completely forgotten he was the host.
